FRIDAY BREAKFAST:

Is There a more timely topic??, For Friday’s breakfast we have put together a program about Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment:  What it is and what you can do about it.
Speakers will be: Darcie Fawcett, former sex crimes prosecutor, Kitty Liell, attorney, and Deborah Widiss, a professor who teaches about sexual harassment at the law school. Each will speak for about 5 minutes followed by a question and answer period as we’re sure people will have a lot of questions.

Jennifer Crossley

My name is Jennifer Crossley, and I’m originally from Gary, Indiana. After graduating from IU in 2005, my husband and I decided to stay and make Bloomington our home. I have three beautiful children: Sydney, Mason, and Kendall, and I usually take them with me when active in the community. I love having an active role in my adopted hometown and am involved in groups such as Moms Demand Action Against Gun Violence, Black Democratic Caucus, Monroe County NOW, and Rise to Run. I am interested in joining the DWC Steering Committee because I’d like to bring additional diversity to the group and join ranks with the strong and fierce women of the Democratic Women’s Caucus.

Linda Grove Paul*

Linda Grove-Paul, is the Vice President of Adult Services for Centerstone of Indiana. Linda has a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Public Administration from Indiana University. She has worked at Centerstone of Indiana for over 17 years.  Linda serves as the Chair of the Indiana Council for Community Mental Health Centers Addiction’s Committee and the as Co- Chair for the Indiana Substance Abuse Professionals Chapter.
Linda has been an active member of the Bloomington community and has participated in numerous political campaigns beginning with Jack Hopkins for City Council.  Most recently she worked on Philippa Guthrie’s City Council campaign and is currently Vice Precinct Committee Chairperson.

Rachel Guglielmo

Rachel Guglielmo is currently state chapter lead for the Indiana chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and a coordinator of the Bloomington Hub for Rise to Run, which is mobilizing and training progressive high school girls and college-aged women to run for office and become involved in the political process.
Before moving to Bloomington in 2007 and taking up her favorite job to date – mothering triplets born that year – Rachel served in the Peace Corps in Hungary from 1991-1994; conducted field research and wrote reports on minority rights protection for Human Rights Watch in Hungary and the former Yugoslavia; worked with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, first as a human rights and elections monitor in Bosnia and then with the High Commissioner on National Minorities in The Hague; and spent five years with the Open Society Institute developing and directing various projects to promote civic participation and activism globally. She’s been trying to catch up with all that advice she gave people in other countries by putting it into practice here in Indiana.
I would like to serve on the Steering Committee of the Democratic Women’s Caucus because I believe promoting more progressive women in politics is the necessary catalyst for the broader progressive political movement our country so desperately needs.

Jillian Kinzie*

Jillian Kinzie served many years as a commissioner on the Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women, where she helped to produce reports on the status of women and partnered with different organizations to address gender inequities and celebrate women's accomplishments. She works at Indiana University as Associate Director, Center for Postsecondary Research and NSSE Institute. In 2007, she ran a spirited campaign for city council (District 2), which she lost by just a few votes.

Kitty Liell*

Kitty is co-founder and Senior Partner at Liell & McNeil Attorneys,  PC.  She served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Indiana  Public Defender Council, and is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Innocence Project at Indiana University's Robert McKinney School of Law, where she graduated with a J.D. in 1988. Her education also includes a Diploma in Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent, Canterbury, England (1982), and a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University (1983).  Kitty has been active in local, state and national politics since she can remember, and was a 2008 and 2012 Delegate to the State Democratic Convention.  Kitty serves on the Monroe County task force to study domestic violence, and  completed two terms on the Monroe County Public Defender Board.

Charlotte Zietlow*

Charlotte has had a lifelong involvement in government, business , education and not-for-profit organizations, no doubt growing our of her immersion in service as a Lutheran minister's daughter. Since the JFK presidential election in 1960, Charlotte has worked in political campaigns for Democrats every year.. In 1971 Charlotte was part of the Democratic revolution that changed the Bloomington government, winning a seat on the City Council as the first woman in memory, and becoming the first women president of the Council. She and Marilyn Schultz established the local kitchen specialty store Goods, Inc.in 1973. Charlotte was the Democratic candidate for US Congress in Indiana’s 7th district in 1978.
In 1980, Charlotte was elected the first woman Monroe County Commissioner. Charlotte spearheaded the campaign to Save the Courthouse, which is the cornerstone of our downtown community today. Over the years Charlotte has headed the Monroe County United Way, worked as a Community Coordinator for Planned Parenthood throughout southern Indiana, and served as Economic Development Coordinator for Middle Way House, Inc. The Monroe County Justice Building is named in her honor.

Carolyn is a semi retired veterinarian. She is a longtime volunteer at WFHB Community Radio and at the Buskirk Chumley Theatre, works for IU Events and writes a food column for the Herald Times. She has served on the Monroe County Parks Board for 6 years and is in her second year as the Democratic Member of the Monroe County Election Board. Carolyn is in her second term on the steering committee of the DWC and helps to bring the Monday Morning News each week.
