July 2004 – Our first fundraiser, “Fund the Run” at Tortilla Flat restaurant

Aug. 2005 – Women’s Equality Day fundraiser featuring Congresswoman Julia Carson (D, Indiana)

March 2006 – Music and Friends at the Pub. This was an amazing event just for the number of talented musicians who performed for us at the Player’s Pub in Bloomington. It featured Rachel Caswell, Janiece Jaffee, Monika Herzig, Lisa Lowe, Lois Sabo-Skelton, city councilmen Andy Ruff and Chris Gaal, and Hambone & Doc.

Aug. 2006 – Women’s Equality Day fundraiser featuring Betty Cockrum, President and CEO of Indiana Planned Parenthood

March 2007 – Mausic and Friends at the Pub 2

Aug. 2007 – Women’s Equality Day fundraiser featuring governor candidate and former Congresswoman Jill Long Thompson

Sept. 2007 – Breakfast with Katrina VandenHeuvel, editor of The Nation magazine


March 2008 – “All Aboard for a Change” fundraiser at Jazz at the Station, with jazz music by Monika Herzig, Janiece Jaffee, Ron Kadish, and Bob Stright. Hosted by chef Matt O’Neal and Cheryl Underwood.

Aug. 2008 – Women’s Equality Day fundraiser: “Extraordinary Women, Extraordinary Voices” featuring author and former Indiana Democratic Party Chair Ann Delaney, with music by the IU African American Choral Ensemble

March 2009 – “Pearls, Politics, and Power: How Women Can Win and Lead” fundraiser at the Indiana Memorial Union, featuring former Vermont governor and ambassador to Switzerland Madeleine Kunin, with vocal performance by Kaia.

Aug. 2009 – “Celebrating 90 Years of Women Voting,” Women’s Equality Day fundraiser, with guest speaker Professor Oviva Orenstein (IU Maurer School of Law) and music by Sophia Travis & Friends

March 2010 – “Rise Up Women!” fundraiser at Terry’s Banquets & Catering, featuring Kate Coyne-McCoy from Emily’s List.

Aug. 2010 – Women’s Equality Day fundraiser – an old-fashioned picnic at Pic-a-Chic Farms featuring croquet, a three-legged race, a cake walk, and a dunk tank. Mayor Mark Kruzan was dunked!

March 2010 – Womenspeak Theater fundraiser at the Bloomington Playwright’s Project. Words from important women throughout history were brought to life by local actors and DWC members.
