Monday Morning News, Oct. 27, 2014

We are getting down to the week before Election Day, and the time now is more important than ever to help our endorsed candidates. Can you knock on doors? Can you write a letter to the editor? What can you do to ensure a victory for our endorsed women? There is one more weekend of early voting this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 401 W. 7th St., Suite 100 at the old Johnson Hardware Building. Below are the early voting times for the final week:

"Point of Sale" Outreach at the Polls

Help our endorsed candidates win this Fall! The DWC Steering Committee has prepared a flyer listing all our endorsed candidates that we want to hand out during the two Saturdays of early voting (Oct. 25 and Nov. 1) as well as on election day (Nov. 4).  We are short of volunteers! Please sign up for a 1-2 hour time slot by contacting DWC vice chair Jillian Kinzie today!

Like Our Endorsed Candidates on Facebook!

One simple thing you can do to support the candidates is "liking" their Facebook pages. It takes less than a minute, and we even have the links for you here so that you can simply click on them, check out their page, and click "like." Note: We have put links to the candidates' websites if they do not have a Facebook page.

Re-Elect Judge Valerie Haughton
Linda Robbins for Monroe County Clerk
Judy Sharp for Assessor
Shelli Yoder for Monroe County
Michelle Bright for Benton Township Trustee
Lillian Henegar for Bloomington Township Trustee

The following endorsed candidates don't have campaign Facebook pages or websites: Vicky Sorensen, Amy Swain, Meri Reinhold, Barb Sturbaum, Pat Slabach, and Mary McInerney. In these small township races, online outreach is not as important.

November Breakfast Meeting, Friday Nov. 7

Are you interested to hear from the candidates after the election? We are! Candidates will discuss what they learned, challenges, and successes. We will also have Jacqui Bauer, the Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Bloomington about the Georgetown Energy Challenge.

Although the video below is a couple of years old, we feel that it is relevant in the election on the local, state, and federal levels. Women such as Alexa Chung, Sia, Lena Dunham, and more sing about the respect, dignity, and equality that all women deserve to the tune of Leslie Gore's "You Don't Know Me." Check it out here!
